I just recently completed several website conversions and translations to market our company worldwide. It has been a challenge, to say the least, for a couple of them. The English to UK English translation was not too terribly difficult. Plastic caps here are still plastic caps there. But when it came time to convert the website into German and even Turkish, the challenges grew by leaps and bounds. For the german conversion, plastic caps became Runde Vinylkappen. For the Turkish folks, it became even more complicated. It turns out, the Turkish character set is different from that of the standard latin set used throughout much of the world. So, in order to make the site viewable in the correct Turkish characters, the text had to first be converted to unicode and then placed into the html. It was a long, tedious process. Thankfully the conversions are done and I don't have to worry about starting the Italian conversion until January. Happy New Year.
